Emanata - iPad - uPad?
I've got comic material for download on the American-based Emanata app for iPad. This is a comic reader for the iPad which focuses on the work of independent comic creators.
Older material 'Random' is available to view for free and my more recent material 'Charlatan Tales' can be downloaded for $2.99.
It's an easy to navigate app with some great work from a really varied mix of independent creators, they hope to roll the app out on to other tablets in due course.

i am i Project - Update
Last year I was involved with creating the illustrated and design content for the 'i am i' Project created and facilitated by Kate Brown.
This artwork has now been donated to the childrens ward of Letterkenny General Hospital, Co.Donegal, Ireland.
Here's a report from online local news, Donegal News.
Chuffed to have work I've done on such a fun project find a home in the hospital I was born in (contrary to popular belief, I didn't land from space Gonzo-style).

New Empress Magazine - Strip Nude for Your Killer
An illustration created for the latest edition of New Empress magazine to accompany a piece on 1970s Italian giallo (Italian horror/thriller films from the early 70's which contained pretty extreme sex and violence and pre-dated American slasher films) 'Strip Nude for Your Killer'.

A Notion Deep Inside..
Last year, it was a Gram Parsons piece for my brother's 40th,this year it's my sisters turn and she gets this Bruce Springsteen piece as she's a massive, massive fan (not long back from seeing a home town concert in New Jersey).
It's A3 dimensions and created using pencil, watercolour, ink and charcoal.
I probably lose Brucie Bonus Points as the image is from the 'Born to Run' photoshoot and lyrics are from 'Badlands' to be found on 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'.

Tablet
A two-pager I've just completed...
For this I wanted to channel (rip-off) the boldness and abstraction in the E.C. work of Harvey Kurtzman. If you're going to steal, steal from the best etc.etc.
I also wanted it to be inkwork and inkwork alone, no post-scan texures, Photoshop shading etc. applied.

True Love is Like the Loch Ness Monster
This is a book cover illustration I created for Helen Cox, editor of New Empress film magazine, of which I create regular illustrated content for. It's a collection of film essays and criticism.
The cover concept was from a frankly bizarre (but fun) brief from Helen.
I also created the type treatment.
It can be bought through here.

The Hollows
I've just completed a nine page story 'The Hollows' which will be appearing in the next issue of 'Charlatan Tales'.
It's written by mate Mark Kavanagh, actor, writer, raconteur.
Here's the first three pages...
The basis of it came about after a drunken discussion to do a story built around the old school ghost story set up of a seance. A lot of fun to work on. Here's the layers of the onion showing pencils and layouts of the first page...

New Empress Magazine - Freaks
Have recently completed this full page illustration for New Empress magazine to accompany an article on Tod Browning's 1932 film 'Freaks'.
I wanted to use colours that were seemingly randomly selected and bordering on garish to replicate the garish cheap pulpy thrills of the subject matter and the day, hopefully I wasn't too successful in this and it seems like they actually were selected without any thought.
A3 illustrative prints of this are available from my Etsy shop.
